Will an EV charger increase my electricity bill?
It varies with your charging habits and how efficient your car is, so it's hard to give a single figure. The good news is that many energy suppliers offer special EV tariffs and cheaper off-peak rates, so charging overnight can cost far less than you'd expect, and we can advise on setting things up to keep your running costs down.
Which charger should I choose?
Most homes go for a 7kW charger, which adds roughly 30 miles of range an hour, more than enough for a full overnight charge. A 22kW charger is faster but needs a three-phase supply most homes don't have. We'll talk you through tethered (cable attached) versus untethered and recommend what genuinely suits your car and driveway.
How long does installation take?
On average an installation takes around 4 to 8 hours, depending on how far the charger is from your fuse board and how straightforward the cable route is. You'll get a precise estimate at the free assessment before any work starts.
Do I need anything in place first?
Ideally you'll have off-street parking such as a driveway or garage, access to your fuse box, and Wi-Fi if you want the smart features. Occasionally an older property needs its supply unlooped by the network operator first, which we can arrange for you, and we check all of this at the assessment.
